There’s a way to work.
I think it’s important for people to know just who they’re dealing with when they head into the real estate market. Whether you’re buying or selling, the stakes are too high not to feel completely comfortable with your agent. That’s why I’m happy to tell people about myself, and why I keep the story simple.
Here’s what people pretty quickly learn about me:
Family and Community
I’m the proud husband of a beautiful wife, and share the joys of life with her and our four children – all under the age of 6. I have always had a strong sense of the value of family and I enjoy the challenges and routines in providing a healthy and happy lifestyle. For my clients that means I’m tuned into their real goals in choosing a house, or in marketing their current homes for sale to the next owners.
My wife and I enjoy an active home life – entertaining and socializing, taking the kids to the playground, heading up to cottage country and participating in community events.
I believe strongly that there is more to a home than four walls and a roof. Because past your front door, the community you live in plays a huge role in how much you enjoy your home. That’s why I love working in Durham Region. Because the communities here have so much to offer.
For my part, I play a leadership role in a local church that does a fair amount of outreach to the local community, and I am invested in the quality of our schools and local amenities. I believe that the best way to get the most from life is to be more mindful of what you can give. And I like to see those values reflected in the community that I live in.
I had long been encouraged by friends and family to consider taking up a career in real estate – and while my path to this career may not have been as simple as that, I did come to agree with them. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in business and a Master’s in theology – both of which come into my real estate practice. I strive to balance business realities with a moral framework that emphasizes honesty and reliability and solid ethical integrity.
I also think the fact that I grew up in the business plays a pretty big role in my approach. My father has a respected name in the region, and a roster of dedicated clients that goes back over 38 years. My mother acts as a coach for some of the most successful real estate agents in Canada. Between them, they’ve given me a view of the business that’s taught me the importance of excellent client service on the one hand, and an innovative and up-to-date approach to business on the other.
Before working in real estate I developed business and service experience in banking and retail sales.
What do I get from my career in real estate?
I enjoy meeting people and working with them, and I get satisfaction from the sense that I’ve helped my clients in shaping their lives in the way they want to live them. I thrive in the realm of customer service – because I believe that it all comes down to relationships, trust, and rapport. Achieving that is a satisfying way to make a living.
